What is Prenatal Massage Therapy?

Prenatal Massage Therapy is a natural therapeutic treatment aimed towards supporting a state of wellness during pregnancy, as well as alleviating pregnancy related symptoms.

Who can benefit from this treatment?

Pregnant woman during the first weeks of gestation, throughout the entire pregnancy and months after delivery.

Why is this treatment beneficial?

As a very important organ is forming inside your body, the placenta, the woman’s body must dispose of fetal waste products and provide for healthy fetal nutrition and respiration. Prenatal Massage Therapy can help kick start these systems, promoting a healthier and happier you for your baby as you reach your desired health goals.

Benefits of Prenatal Massage Therapy include:

  • Immediately decrease stress and promote relaxation
  • Relieve cramping, muscle spasm, and myofascial pain from growing baby belly
  • Increase circulation of the blood and lymph system
  • Decrease water retention and edema
  • Eliminate trigger points
  • Enhance sleep
  • Relieve stress on joints, especially the hips
  • Calm an active baby
  • Benefit postural health and positive development of your baby
  • Enhance sense of well-being and body awareness

Administration Schedule

Initial Prenatal Massage Treatments are 90-minutes in length and include a complete review of a patient’s health history, and clinic assessment to ensure a safe and effective treatment. Follow-up treatments are 75-minutes in length, allowing sufficient time to unwind and relax into the massage. Frequency will be discussed during the initial treatment and will depend on the discussed goals of each patient. If a patient is feeling a lot of stress and pain during pregnancy, it would be recommended to come for a massage once a week for three weeks. If the patient is looking for general maintenance and relaxation during pregnancy, a treatment every three to four weeks would be beneficial.
